and new carpet for the central aisle too!

              Picture
"A new custom-weave central aisle carpet was laid in church just before Christmas.  Made and designed by Woven Carpets of Kidderminster, it continues the staging blue background with other colours present in the church, including: red from Mary's robes and deep blue from the sky in the Burne-Jones window; and terracotta, cream and white in diamond and edging patterns from the Choir's Victorian tiling.

Our old central carpet runner is now to go to the Kidderminster CarpetMuseum (due to be opened in October 2012 by Lord Cobham).  In St Mary's since the 1960s, the Carpet Museum's Curator Richard Pugh-Cook has suggested that it may have been woven in the 1920s.  Considering that it may be nearly 90 years old, the carpet has retained its colour vibrancy superbly, despite now being threadbare in places."

              WELCOME TO ST MARY'S

Now well into the New Year, with Christmas celebrations behind us, we look forward
to welcoming you and to all that God has in store for us as a Christian community over the coming months.

Details of our worship and many other activities can be found throughout this website, so please do browse.

St Mary’s is a warm and welcoming Christian community of all ages.
The church is open on Saturdays 10.00 – 12.00am and tea and coffee is served.

Children’s worship meet in the meeting room during the 10 o’clock service.
The first Sunday in the month is a family service when the children remain in church.

We welcome families for Christenings on 3rd Sunday of each month at 12noon. The church is also available for weddings and funerals. There is someone in the vicar’s vestry on Thursday between 7.00 and 7.30pm to arrange details.

Traidcraft goods are on sale fortnightly after the 10am Sunday service.

We hold social and fund raising events for our funds and charity. Our last event was a Harvest Supper with an African theme.  A great time was had by all eating African food and playing African Beetle.  Money was raised for Malawi.  Trips are also organised to plays at Hall Green Little Theatre and Town Hall and  Symphony Hall  for City of Birmingham Choir Concerts.  Recently we all enjoyed a coach trip to Ilam in Derbyshire.

This wide variety of activities enables us to be a better and closer Christian community and we look forward to welcoming you.
